An Art of Observation" [2007 ©] is a mulitmedia project comprised of a number of different works from photograms to video works. Prior to studying at DOJCAD Cat studied natural pattern through drawing, painting and photography, in doing so she became aware of the similarites in patterns made in very different material and wondered what the common element between these patterns was, the answer:
WATER- Life on this earth is reliant on water, we ourselves are over 70% water and many organisms and natural systems share this high percentage of water content, therefore it must have a huge influence on the movement and transfer of energy and therefore on the development of pattern and form.
Cat's work has always striven to highlight the interconnectedness of our environment and to highlight the beauty and sensitivity of the world around us. An Art of Observation is a set of works that does just that by documenting the simple process of state change and the movement of water from solid to liquid to gas.
These works were exhibited at the "They Had Four Years" exhibition at Generator Projects Dundee.
