“Siloscapes” [2008 ©] was a Live performance at Cupar Arts Festival in 2008 in which the horizon line of the surrounding landscape is used as the basis of a musical score.
The line of the horizon was split into 4; north-east, east to south etc. and traced onto music box paper, where the line crossed a punch point, the hole would be punched out creating a basic musical interpretation of the line. The series of dots on the music box paper was then used to create a very simple audiovisual score, of white dots on a black frame. Each of the performers had the score corresponding to the compass point at which they were based during the performance; the only rule given was “If there are no dots don’t play”.
The Siloscapes performance is a sonic interpretation of the visual landscape supported by aural history recordings with the Robertson Family. Artist's CD book coming soon
