Sonorous Form II [floor & water] is an interactive installation exploring the effects of sound and movement on water, highlighting our physical, two-way relationship with our environment.
As the viewer enters the space the sound of their movements is collected by contact mics placed under the floor, this signal is fed to a software program (plogue bidule) to turn this signal into a pure sine wave which is then sent to a co-oresponding speaker in the speaker bed. As this speaker sounds it creates movements in the water which are reflected onto the wall using a light.
As you move the through the space your movements are traced into the water and onto the wall so you can interact live in the space.
This piece was developed along side Sonorous Form I [cello & water ] during Cat's undergraduate degree show at DOJCAD in 2006.
